Gulf Coast Energy Academy

Gulf Coast Energy Network (GCEN) advocates for energy-efficiency policies that minimize costs to all sectors of the economy and that lessen greenhouse gas emissions and their impact on global climate. Based in Pensacola, Florida, GCEN brings a wealth of educational and technical experience to all aspects of energy and water efficiency, alternative energy, and sustainable design in the Northwest Florida Region. We work to expand markets, strengthen research and development, and improve education and outreach for consumers and industry professionals. Our multidisciplinary staff conducts research and develops education outreach programs to promote policies to strengthen energy and water conservation practices, and foster alternative forms of energy and sustainable construction in the United States.

Gulf Coast Energy Academy (GCEA) aims to provide critical training through the North American Board of Certified Energy Practicioners (NABCEP) training certification program, which is the most widely recognized entry-level photovoltaic (PV) installation credential across the country. Industry accredited certifications are made available in careers in the energy industry such as solar photovoltaic (PV) system installers, sales representatives, system inspectors, and other solar-related occupations. Job training, certifications, employment skills training, and apprenticeships are also made available in solar installation and design, wind turbine technicians, mechanical technicians, electrical technicians, drone operator, energy and water auditor, building science and weatherization and building commission agent. In addition to providing critical training, GCEA also strives to increase university collaboration with industry and government partners through new research and educational opportunities for faculty and students from the University of West Florida, Pensacola State College, and others.
