Frequently Asked Questions

While fiscal sponsorship can seem confusing at first, it is actually a very powerful and simple concept that is practiced across the country to enable individuals and groups to make a positive social impact. If you have questions not answered here, please contact us!

How can I make a donation to the services of PensacolaCAN?

We’d love to have your financial assistance so that PensacolaCAN and our Partners can further our environmental and social work. You can find all your options for donating by clicking here..

How can I or my group utilize the services of PensacolaCAN?

Individuals and organizations can apply to be a sponsored project on the Apply for Sponsorship page of this website. Our sponsored projects are individuals or groups with which PensacolaCAN has an official legal relationship in serving as a project’s fiscal sponsor.

How much control does PensacolaCAN have over our project?

PensacolaCAN, as the fiscal sponsor of your project, maintains financial control over donated funds and expenditures. PensacolaCAN does not want, nor maintain, control over the design or operation of your project. However, projects must remain consistent to its stated purpose or risk losing its sponsored status.

How much is it going to cost?

There is a $50, non-refundable, application fee. If your project is accepted to PensacolaCAN, there is generally an 10% to 15% administrative fee charged on collected revenues.

Additional shared administrative resources are optional. If your project opts in to those resources, separate charges will apply. For example, event insurance is available at dramatically lower rates than purchasing on a one time basis from a vendor.

Can an organization partner with PCAN on a single event or campaign?

Yes. A sponsored project can exist as an event or cause that has beginning and an end, or as ongoing effort with PensacolaCAN offers services on a longer-term basis.

Does PCAN provide funding to its partner organizations?

No. PensacolaCAN does not provide direct funding to partner organizations. However, by partnering with PensacolaCAN, your organization may be more attractive to potential contributors thereby increasing the likelihood of increased donations.

What happens to the project fund balance if the relationship with PensacolaCAN is terminated?

If the sponsored project obtains its own 501(c)(3) designation with the IRS, with the same stated purpose of the project, the funds will be transferred to the new organization.

If the project is terminated for any other reason, the funds will be directed toward another project or 501(c)(3) organization that has a similar stated objective as the original sponsored project.
