Coming Out in the South

Julie Still-Rolin is hitting the road with the Coming Out in the South Tour where she will speak at events for organizations who seek to understand the experiences of coming out in the South. Julie’s speaking points include overcoming obstacles such as being disowned, being discriminated against, and living with society’s negative feelings about homosexuality. Julie also speaks to parents and loved ones of LGBTQ persons that want guidance in supporting their loved ones.

While doing book signings in her hometown of Pensacola, Florida, Julie found that the LGBTQ community is in need of encouragement and empowerment. Many members of the community have been disheartened by the divisions in today’s society. This tour aims to bring the LGBTQ community together in safe spaces where they can find the courage and confidence that Julie has found. Julie’s personal stories illustrate strength and endurance, and through them she offers the same to her audience.

In addition, a documentary is in the works to include Julie on tour and interviews with those interested in discussing their experiences as members of the LGBTQ community and allies in the South. Tour dates and locations will be updated regularly at www.comingoutinthesouth.com.

All proceeds will be used to facilitate the speaking tour and create a documentary with the purpose of bringing the LGBTQ community and allies together in safe spaces to connect and share stories and experiences.
